I though this was mildly funny. Someone wrote on the Cat and Fiddle road:
Kenway, Cuming, Tejvan, Clinton, Bhima, Lovatt. You can just about see Team Dimension Data cycling over ‘Tejvan’. These are local riders, not in the Tour of Britain, but sometimes ride events like the Cat and Fiddle hill climb. Mark Lovatt won the National Hill climb when it was on the Cat and Fiddle in 2002.
The Tour of Britain seemed to go up the Cat and Fiddle at a relatively slow pace. The only one not hanging around was Ian Stannard who powered his way to an impressive stage victory. Good to see local riders – One Pro Cycling’s Kristian House and JLT Condor’s Graham Briggs also get on the podium. No disrespect to finish behind Ian Stannard. Stannard in a past edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was able to be in a break of four – him and three Etixx Quick Step riders – Stannard still managed to win.
I have raced the Cat and Fiddle twice, both times on a TT bike. I have a course record of 18.16 set in 2013.
