A long gradual ascent through Ashdown Forest. The climb starts to the south-west of Groombridge and gently rises before two periods of descent. The second descent is quite substantial and at half way through the climb the net height gain is fairly marginal. But, after a nice descent, the final 4 km are all uphill averaging 4-5%. With a nice tailwind it can be a fast climb.
