  1. Alf Engers was first under 50 minutes for 25 miles. First under the hour (in UK) was Ralph Dougherty in 1939 with 59.29. However, riders in Eire had been breaking the hour since 1936 on the Navan Road course!

  2. Sorry, Andy, cheap shot , but they were measured and checked, and lots of English riders came over to ride the course it was so fast. ? Btw an Irish Mile is longer than the English mile

  3. Hi there, I’ve just completed 1km in 55 seconds using my own cycling machine at home. Is this time any good?? I don’t cycle much but I try to cycle twice a week (10km each time), my record 10km is in 11m:30s, also my record 5km is in 5m:30s, and only done a 10 mile cycle in 19m:05s, but I believe I can do better than that with more training….is this a good time for a beginner? Should I go into cycling Time Trials comps? 🤔
